Official Residence - President Felipe Calderón and Margarita Zavala cut the traditional cake known as “Rosca de Reyes” with boys and girls from children’s homes run by the National System for Integral Family Development (DIF), public and private welfare institutions and the Mazahua community.

The Mexican President said that the “Rosca de Reyes" should be a celebration that unites us all for the benefit of Mexico's children.

He that that it is crucial for adults to be concerned about boys’ and girls’ future.

That is why, he said, Federal Government works with children in mind, by guaranteeing all future generations the means for their safety, development and progress.

In social issues, he said, for example, that education is being supported by over six million grants in order to guarantee their studies, while the Medical Insurance for a New Generation Program provides medical care for children that need it.

At the end of the event, nearly a thousand children took part in the various recreational activities.
