Dra. Leslie Swindle and Dr. Carlos Hernandez will present 'Atrial Fibrillation' at Hospital CMQ Premiere on March 8th at 10 am.
At 10 am on March 8, 2010 at Hospital CMQ Premiere (Francisco Villa, across from Soriana Pitillal,) Dra. Leslie Swindle and Dr. Carlos Hernandez will present "Atrial Fibrillation," the final program of our very popular and successful Heart Talks series.

According to the American Heart Association, this disorder is found in approximately 2.2 million Americans.

What is atrial fibrillation? In a nutshell, during a-fib (as it is commonly called) the heart's two upper chambers "quiver" instead of beating normally. Blood is not pumped completely out of the chambers, so it may pool and clot. If a piece of a blood clot from the atria leaves the heart and becomes lodged in an artery in the brain, then a stroke often results.

Statistics show that about 15% of strokes occur in patients with atrial fibrillation. As one ages, the likelihood of developing a-fib increases. 3 to 5% of people over 65 years old have atrial fibrillation. Learn about the various and most up-to-date approaches in treatment and prevention to this "abnormal beat."

The "Heart Talks" have been full - so a reservation is definitely required. Please RSVP to save a seat. You won't want to miss this!
