The Banderas Bay Regatta Welcome Reception featured a dance troupe from the Rhythms of the Night show.

The dance group exhibited an awesome combination of creativity and grace coupled with unbelievable flexibility and strength.
On Tuesday afternoon March 16th over 400 racers, regatta committee volunteers, and invited guests were treated to a rousing Welcome Reception that officially opened the 2010 Banderas Bay Regatta. Those attending were treated to the music of the local group Kiacalli and then to a dance troupe from the Rhythms of the Night show.

Kiacalli treated the crowd to music from various regions in Mexico as well as indigenous music from Peru, Paraguay, Chile and Argentina. Their great skill on guitar, pan flute and Mexican harp was appreciated by all. The Rhythms of the Night dance group exhibited an awesome combination of creativity and grace coupled with unbelievable flexibility and strength.

A mandatory skippers meeting was held on Wednesday morning at it was confirmed that a record 59 boats are entered in this year's race. Handicaps were given to each boat to level the playing field and each boat was also assigned to one of 7 divisions so vessels of like speed would sail together. After the skippers meeting a practice race course was set up so the entrants could hone their skill for tomorrow's first race.
