The first Chivas Vallarta game will be held at the La Preciosa Ejido Stadium in Ixtapa on March 6th.
The directors of Club Deportivo Guadalajara - Las Chivas - have signed a historic agreement for the professional second-division league soccer team to use Puerto Vallarta's Ejido Stadium, located in the Ixtapa neighborhood, as their venue for the next two tournaments, which will determine which players ascend to the "Big League."

The second division team will acquire the name Chivas Vallarta for local, national and international promotion. Made up of seven 'Sub. 20' national players, the team will be coached by former world championship, Javier "Chicharo" Hernández, who is also the father of famous Mexican soccer player, Chicharito Hernández.

His nickname Chicharito comes from his father El Chicharo, who was also a footballer for C.D. Guadalajara and the Mexico national team. Both his grandfather and father played for Chivas, making Hernández the third generation to play with the All-Mexican club.

This is the first time that such an important team has chosen Puerto Vallarta as their home-base, and the decision is expected to generate significant benefits in economic and sports development.

According to the Football Soccer Mexican Federation, teams must be in the city 24 hours before each game, so Puerto Vallarta hotel occupancy is expected to increase, as each team travels with a minimum of 25 people per team, not to mention their fans, managers, family, friends and press.

Don't miss the first Chivas Vallarta game at the La Preciosa Ejido Stadium in Ixtapa on March 6th at 3:00 pm. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a day of family fun, that includes a first-class sporting event, music by an Ixtapa band, special guests for the first "kick-off" and lots of special surprises.

Ticket go on sale on Thursday, March 4th at the La Preciosa Stadium and may also be purchased at 2 pm on game day at the stadium's box office. Admission is free for children accompanied by a paying adult. For more information, send an email to celizondo58(at)gmail.com.
