El Dorado, one of the oldest restaurant-bars in Puerto Vallarta and a popular place to spend the day lounging beneath a palapa on Los Muertos Beach, is now operating under new ownership, a new concept, and a new name - El Dorado by Boca Bento.

Built in 1961, El Dorado Restaurant became a gathering point in 1963 for the actors, celebrities and crew working on the movie The Night of the Iguana, and its popularity never waned. Through the years the restaurant's prime beachfront location, along with its atmosphere, food and service, made it a Puerto Vallarta institution.

In March of 2010, an international group of Mexican, Italian and American partners took over the venue. Deciding to keep the tradition alive while giving the restaurant a long-overdue "makeover," they are calling their new venture El Dorado by Boca Bento.

Those who are familiar with the Puerto Vallarta restaurant scene know the Boca Bento name. Consistently rated as one of Puerto Vallarta's top restaurants by tourists and locals alike, Boca Bento's innovative menus have been delighting diners since the restaurant first opened on Basilio Badillo back in 2005.

In 2008, Boca Bento moved to a new location in Mismaloya, where owner Stewart Haverlack continued to delight his guests with Latin inspired specialties surrounded by the majestic Sierra Madre mountains. Today, guests can enjoy Boca Bento's fabulous menu in the El Dorado beachfront restaurant, or right on the golden sands of the most popular beach in Puerto Vallarta - Playa de los Muertos.

According to Haverlack, "Our plan is to offer an innovative menu items with an emphasis on Seafood, along with amazing cocktails all set to Chill music. The kitchen is from Boca Bento and will features many signature items along with 'cutting edge' new creations."

El Dorado by Boca Bento is now serving limited breakfast and lunch menus along with full cocktail service. They will begin serving full breakfast and lunch on Thursday, March 18th and their dinner menu will be available starting Thursday, March 25th.

The restaurant will remain open through the early summer and then close for major remodeling. The partners plan to "drop the building to the ground" in order to create a Bali Style Beach Club, which will open in mid-October.

Open 7 days a week from 9 am to Midnight, El Dorado by Boca Bento is located at Pulpito 102 and Los Muertos Beach on the south side of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. For more information, call 044-322-135-9697 in Puerto Vallarta or (301) 832-6377 from the U.S.
