Border Angels Baja Earthquake Update
email this pageprint this pageemail usEnrique Morones - BorderAngels.org
April 08, 2010

Thanks to all for the very generous outpouring of support, but we still need more supplies and now have drop off sites throughout San Diego County and in Imperial Valley (Downtown San Diego, Hillcrest, Chula Vista, Lemon Grove, Clairemont, Vista, Santee, Imperial Valley). Our main drop off is the Unitarian Universalist church in Chula Vista (photographed above). Please call Mar Cardenas for the nearest drop-off location near you (619) 258-0169.

If going to Lemon Grove, please call Isabel at 619 739-5508, Imperial Valley: Emma (928) 446-7817, Clairemont Mesa: Lori (858) 278-1323, general info Enrique (619) 269-7865 .

What is needed most apart from monetary donations, are non perishable food, tents, canopies, sleeping bags, folding chairs, water, diapers, etc… just imagine if you were immediately left homeless and with no electricity or water, what would you need? It has been estimated that ruptured water lines will take up to two months to repair! We have already been shuttling items to Mexico and will continue to do so.

We will also lead a caravan to Mexicali area this Saturday, leaving mid morning from Chula Vista. (Remember that you need US passports). One of the neediest areas that needs our help is the CUCAPA indigenous community, south of Mexicali (this will be one of our key target areas). (please RSVP via this medium if you are interested in joining us).

Thanks again to all that have been so generous and supportive of Border Angels, we really need your help now as we have both the earthquake situation and the hot summer months ahead. Here are some of the drop off sites & contacts info we have now established:

• Chula Vista: Unitarian Universalist church, 970 Broadway # 104, Chula Vista CA, Contact Mar (619) 258-0169. She is also contact for UU Churches in HILLCREST, VISTA & SANTEE

• Lemon Grove: Please contact Isabel for more info: (619) 739-5508

• Imperial Valley: Campesinos sin Fronteras: Emma Torres: (928) 446-7817

For Monetary donations: please send checks to: BORDER ANGELS - PO BOX 86598, San Diego CA 92138 (please write Baja Quake in memo area). Tax id 01 0777 554

Special thanks to the Unitarian Universalist churches (www.uusandiego.org) as well as to all our supporters.

For more information please contact Border Angels at 619 269-7865 or enriquemorones(at)cox.net, or visit the Border Angels online at www.borderangels.org or www.angelesdelafrontera.org.
