Vallarta's El Dorado... The Legend Reborn
email this pageprint this pageemail usPatrick Harrison - PVNN
April 15, 2010

Open daily from 9 am to Midnight, El Dorado by Boca Bento is located at Pulpito 102 and Los Muertos Beach on the south side of Puerto Vallarta. For more information, visit BocaBento.com or call 044-322-135-9697.
The new tag line for El Dorado by Boca Bento is "Rediscover the Legend..." After a press sneak-peek held on Wednesday, April 14, the tag line should be "The Legend Reborn!" Fifteen members of the Banderas Bay media were welcomed by part-owner and front-man Stewart Haverlack and PR goddess Dorota Antoszkiewicz to a wonderful candlelit 12-course tasting on the beach featuring some of their new offerings and some old-favorites now available on their diverse menu.

El Dorado, a legendary beachfront palapa restaurant located on Puerto Vallarta’s Los Muertos Beach since the 50s, has recently been re-invented and spruced-up by Stewart Haverlack and his team, showcasing the talents of creative Chef Carlos Zuno.

Look for an even-fresher experience later this year after the restaurant completes extensive renovations and updates this summer. You’ll discover a wider variety of flavors for breakfast, lunch or dinner in one of Vallarta’s most beautiful beachfront settings.

Some of the new featured offerings at the tasting included Sashimi Pizza with three chili soy vinaigrette and wasabi-crusted sesame seeds, Agave Glazed Shrimp Shooters with tropical gazpacho and Three Mini Burgers: Prime Rib with aged cheddar, BBQ Shrimp, and Lamb with caramelized onions and blue cheese.

Some of Boca Bento’s favorites have migrated to their new location, including their Achiote-and-Miso Marinated Sea Bass with sticky rice, Chipotle-Honey Glazed Ribs and their Argentinean Churrasco. But the hands-down favorite among the group was the incredible Popcorn Shrimp with jalapeño-ranch dressing. Also available is a diverse cocktail and wine list. Sampled this evening were a Chili-Mango Margarita, a Cilantro Martini with fresh ginger and a luscious Pomegranate Martini.

Other beachfront restaurants had better take notice as Stewart and his team are just beginning to "get their groove on" at their new location. With a variety of innovative flavors conjured up by Chef Juan Zuno at surprisingly reasonable prices, it is easy to see why Boca Bento was named "Best New Restaurant" in Banderas Bay when it first opened on Basilio Badillo 5 years ago. The marriage of El Dorado with Boca Bento is a match made in gastronomic heaven!
