The Jaltemba Bay - La Peñita Rotary Club held its change of officer's event on Wednesday, June 30th at Piña Colada Restaurant in Rincon Guayabitos.

The new officers for 2010-2011 are: President Eddie Dominguez, President Elect Lidiana Flores Arreola, Treasurer Carlos Rendón, Secretary Lidiana Flores Arreola, Master of Ceremonies Abraham Lopez and Sergeant of Arms Bill Wilkerson. The committee chairs are: Administration Rick Helberg, Membership Victor Youcha, Rotary Foundation Viky Robelo, Public Relations Susana Connors and Service Projects Sebastian Marin.

Jaltemba Bay Rotary Club was initiated in November 2008 and received official status in March 2009. In its first year, the club has successfully constructed a new kindergarten in Las Cabras, helped with the construction of another new kindergarten La Patria, helped with the demolition of abandoned buildings in La Peñita and the installation of a computer room in the secondary school in El Monteon.

The Club meets Wednesday mornings at 7:30 am at Piña Colada Restaurant. Members enjoy social time over breakfast with an official meeting beginning promptly at 8:00 am. Various community leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs and artists are invited as guest speakers to give members a better understanding of the region they serve.

Throughout the year, the club has many visiting guest Rotarians from around the world visiting or vacationing in the area. All meetings are conducted in both English and Spanish and the club publishes a weekly newsletter highlighting their members, sister clubs activities, guest speakers, district club events and updates on community projects.

Club Jaltemba Rotary's goals for the coming year are: membership recruitment; strengthening committee activity; improving the website; identifying 2010-2011 service projects; establishing financial goals for the club; creating and strengthening ties between the Jaltemba club and visitor's clubs in Canada and the United States; increasing club participation at the District levels; and creating a calendar of activities by month, quarter, semester and year.
