Mexico City - President Felipe Calderón declared that dialogue and unity between all Mexicans is crucial to continuing to build the more prosperous, safer, stronger, fairer and more egalitarian Mexico based on laws for which the Independence Heroes fought.

“A Mexico in which all Mexicans will have access to health, education and the same opportunities, regardless of their beliefs, race or place of birth," he added.

During Sunday's Solemn Ceremony of the Transfer of the Remains of the National Heroes to the National Palace, the President said that the festivities for the Independence Bicentennial must be a point of inflection in our history so that everyone, guided by the ideals of our heroes, will seize the reins of our destiny.

“On this special occasion, I would urge all Mexicans, without distinctions and particularly during these upcoming national celebrations, to minimize our differences in the interest of the history we are commemorating today.

Union and brotherhood between Mexicans should be the mark of the festivities in 2010,” declared the President in the Central Courtyard of the National Palace.

Accompanied by Secretaries of the Interior, Francisco Blake Mora; National Defense, Guillermo Galván Galván; the Navy, Mariano Francisco Saynez Mendoza and Public Education, Alonso Lujambio Irazábal, President of the Supreme Court of Justice Guillermo Ortiz Mayagoitia and Executive Coordinator of the Festivities of the Bicentennial and Director General of the National Institute of Historical Studies of the Revolutions, José Manuel Villalpando César, President Calderón declared that the remains of the National Heroes will be on view at the National Gallery of the National Palace, which will be open to the public as from September 5.

The President added that historical research and studies on physical anthropology have proven without any doubt the identity of the remains of our heroes. In addition, they have proved that the remains of Insurgents Pedro Moreno and Víctor Rosales were also located in the Monument of Independence, despite the fact that there was no commemorative plaque stating this. This omission will therefore be amended during the Celebrations of the Year of the Nation.

Following the speeches, President Calderón mounted a guard of honor together with the Head of the Supreme Court of Justice, the Secretaries of National Defense and the Navy and the President's Head of Staff.

The remains of the Independence Heroes will remain in the National Palace until 2011, when they will be returned to the Monument of Independence.
