New Chef Brings Contemporary Mexican Cooking to Romantic Zone Restaurant

Rare among notable Puerto Vallarta restaurants, La Chef Miriam Flores takes the helm at restaurante época with an exciting menu focusing upon traditional Mexican flavors and ingredients presented with modern flair. "There aren't many women chefs in this city, and few chefs of Miriam's caliber," notes owner Kurt Sinner.
With roots in Jalisco, Chef Flores embodies contemporary Mexican cuisine. A graduate of Le Cordon Bleu Arts Program at the Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon, Chef Flores recently returned to her grandmother's village in the Sierra Madre intent upon acquiring more recipe secrets.
Author, teacher, business owner and chef at 30, Flores focuses on fresh, seasonal, high quality ingredients. Notes Chef Flores, "I cook simple, with lots of flavor and the least amount of labor. Wherever I am, I like to mix the local food culture with my own style and twist."
Living in Ireland the past four years, Chef Flores started a successful sauce manufacturing business, authored a cookbook and taught cooking classes at the Dublin Cookery School.
Flores is no stranger to Puerto Vallarta. She worked briefly for Executive Chef Nacho Uribe Moreno and further honed her skills at the Hacienda San Angel before moving to Ireland.
 The soul of Chef Flores' cooking has always been decidedly Mexican. Presentations are colorful, fresh and inviting. Her return to Puerto Vallarta, just in time for the high season, ensures diners that something nuevo and delicioso awaits them.
