The 8th Annual Half Marathon and 5K, held in Puerto Vallarta, attracted over 720 runners from Mexico, the United States and Canada. It was perfect weather for a run.

"I came down for my friend's wedding," says Amy Huffman of Toronto, "And I figured that while I was here, I might as well bust out a quick 21 kilometers. I just did the half-marathon in Toronto a couple of weeks ago so I figured I was primed and ready and it's a good excuse to eat and drink the rest of the week."

The race began in front of the sports stadium with the 5K runners turning around near Los Tules and the half marathon joggers making the return just past the military base. This local event is extremely popular and draws men and women of all ages.

Jose Luis Lopez Camarena from Arandas, Jalisco said he has basically been running all his life. He started playing soccer when he was very young and that involved a great deal of running up and down the field. He says he just continued and has been competitively entering races for over 30 years. Jose runs races all over the world from five Ks to full marathons. He usually wins his age bracket, which is the over 60, pretty amazing.
