The line up for Puerto Vallarta's New Years Eve much anticipated event has been confirmed at a press conference hosted at the recently refurbished El Dorado Restaurant in Puerto Vallarta’s Romantic Zone.

The multi-location event called Fusion do Sentidos: Fiesta Vallarta 2011, has been organized by Mijo! Brands and EspacioUrbano on behalf of City Hall. The Conventions and Visitors Bureau and the Fideicomiso (Tourism Board) to promote the launch of the new website and the many changes planned for this destination in the coming year.

The slogan for the event "Fusion de Sentidos" references the multitude of experiences to be enjoyed in Puerto Vallarta, nestled between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Bay of Banderas on the Pacific Ocean.

"Visitors to the city are always surprised by the dramatic beauty of Puerto Vallarta. The colonial town with its cobblestone streets combined with a wealth of cultural and recreational activities make Puerto Vallarta truly unique" explained Jose Luis Diaz Borloli, Director of Tourism for the city.

Those involved in the project along with Diaz Borioli include local business leaders Luis Angarita, Dennis Whitelaw, Miguel Andres, Luis Angel Cantu and Antonia Lavender, Director of Commercialization of the OCV.

"We've have been working closely with Mijo! Brands for close to 7 months to develop the new official website, VisitPuertoVallarta.com, and now are developing events for the city. Seeing the project come together made many of us involved in the project realize just how much we have to offer as a city for both locals and visitors. The images that were captured as part of the project are breath taking." explains Angarita.

The event is not about celebrating a new website or new year, but rather about celebrating Puerto Vallarta, its culture, traditions and way of life. The goal of the event, according to the organizers, is to communicate to everyone that lives and visits here that they are the reason Puerto Vallarta is so special, and that everyone has a part in ensuring the Puerto Vallarta experience is second to none.

To this end, the various municipal and state government agencies and business leaders are working to enhance Puerto Vallarta's stature and reputation in the international arena. The city is investing heavily in improvements to infrastructure, parks creation, the restoration of the Historical Center and the pier at the heart of the Romantic Zone.

The New Year’s Eve events will be held simultaneously at three locations across the Malecon of the Historical Center. The main stage will be at the Caballito del Mar (Sea Horse) and features a variety of acts including an acrobatic troupe from Guadalajara "Fashionista," the local rock-pop band the Zippers, the widely acclaimed Fandango and 2 international award winning DJs. (from 7:00 PM to 12:30 AM)

The iconic Los Arcos (The Arches) across from the main plaza will serve as the second stage and feature the young vocalist Pez Villasenor singing traditional and contemporary songs, the folkloric ballet group Temoztli and the renowned Mariachi Real de America. (from 9:00 PM to 12:30 AM)

At the south end of the Malecon, on the river island El Cuale, the restaurant Oscars will be converted into a dance venue and will feature an all night progressive and deep house extravaganza for the young at heart. Acts include DJ Frank (Puerto Vallarta), Nino Hernandez (Guadalajara), Vadim Zhukov (Moscow) and Max Graham (Montreal). (from 10 PM to late)

The main act this year will of course be the approximate 30 minute firework spectacular at midnight. The fireworks will be set off along the length of the Malecon including Los Arcos, the Sea Horse and across from the Dolce Vita restaurant. A second firework display will be set off at 2:00 above the south Malecon where the dance event will be held. The city has confirmed it has invested close to $300,000 pesos to usher in the New Year in grand fanfare with a renewed spirit for Puerto Vallarta.
