Upon entering this large building turned into a two-story grouping of fine shops, immediately the visitor sees quality wherever the eyes are drawn. Earth tones rich yet soft invite you inside. Words which enter one's mind are "classy", "upscale", "stunning" and "sharp." This is one distinguished approach to shopping in Southside Puerto Vallarta. It belongs nestled amidst a row of fine art galleries - where it would still stand out.

Peter van der Voort partnered with Nina Goodhope in this venture. His wife Béatrice has a ceramic studio/shop called Fireworks on the second floor and offers classes. Their son Mike operates Mikey's, a fine foods and deli as you enter. Executive Chef Elliot and Sous Chef Dani oversee the preparation of many lovely salads, pastas, quiche and sausages. They select butcher meats, gourmet cheeses and breads daily.

In the rear rooms, Don Fresco Fresh Produce has immaculate displays of rows of colorful vegetables suitable for pictures lay alongside equally enticing fruit. Each piece is fresh and blemish-free, ranging from heirloom tomatoes to sweet white corn, yellow mangos and assorted lettuces.

Nina has the front fine wine bar and sales room, Cork + Bottle. That is right up her alley as she stands out in the greater Banderas Bay area as the person to seek for information and assistance in wines. She designs wine choices for your home entertaining or merely enjoying. Wine appreciation classes are offered, a super way to learn about vintages and new releases.

k'rico:) provides a rich array of pastries, cakes, coffees and more. Everything is made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. Sample some croissants or muffins steaming out of the oven, then later enjoy at your dinner table.

So, the next time you have a craving for something really classy, head on over to Los Mercados, located just a half-block west of Guitierrez Rizo, at Aquiles Serdan #265 on the south side of Puerto Vallarta.

Consider subscribing to their email newsletter, which is available on their website, LosMercadosPV.com. This information will keep you up-to-date on new products and events which may be of interest.
