(Presidencia de la República)
Mexican President Felipe Calderón, together with his wife Margarita Zavala, visited San Martín Texmelucan, Puebla Monday to personally evaluate the damage caused by the explosion of PEMEX pipelines and supervise assistance for the wounded and those who lost their homes, and monitor civil protection actions.

President Calderón visited San Martín Texmelucan Hospital to talk to the wounded and relatives, to whom he offered words of encouragement and Federal Government's commitment to accompany them during these difficult times. He offered them all the necessary support to enable them to overcome this tragedy as soon as possible.

The President also toured the hostel where the families evacuated from the area of the explosion have been housed. He listened to their concerns and instructed the authorities to provide them with food, shelter and medical assistance.

President Calderón and his wife Margarita Zavala talked to the persons affected and listened to their requests. The President repeated his government's support and asked them to keep their spirits up in order to overcome this tragic challenge together.

Lastly, the Mexican President talked to the federal and local authorities responsible for security to ensure that permanent surveillance is maintained in the streets in order to protect the assets of families who have temporarily been forced to leave their homes.
