April 29, 2011

Micaela was selected to receive an Investours interest-free loan on March 24th. She will use the loan to expand her clothing sales business in Bucerias, Nayarit, Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Investours is proud to announce its partnership with the American School of Puerto Vallarta. Thanks to this partnership, starting in May 2011, Investours will begin running tours from Puerto Vallarta in addition to their tours based out of Bucerías and Punta de Mita.

In addition to our upcoming May 4th investour, tours will continue throughout spring 2011 on Wednesday afternoons. If you are interested in participating, please visit investours.org to sign up or contact Vallarta Program Director Ryan Pukos at ryan(at)investours.org.

Founded in 2008, Investours works at the intersection of microfinance and socially responsible tourism by organizing "investours." During an investour, investourists visit small communities, meet entrepreneurs, and listen to their business ideas. In the Bahía de Banderas region, these entrepreneurs are clients of ¡Sé Más!, PEACE's microfinance lending program.

At the end of the tour, investourists decide which entrepreneur will receive an interest-free micro-loan, and 100% of the tour group's fees go to the entrepreneur of the investourists' choice. Afterwards, investour alumni can track the loan online.

An investour allows participants to improve the economic condition of hardworking, low-income Mexican families through micro-finance; the micro-loan funded by a tour will help improve the lives of the entrepreneur and fellow community members.

Investours’ debut tour in the Bahía was on December 13, 2010. Since then, Investours has run 9 tours, issued 9 interest-free loans to local entrepreneurs, and educated 45 investourists about the power of microfinance.
