May 9, 2011

80 lb Broom Tail Grouper caught on an 8 hr fishing charter aboard the Policonfondido.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - May is an interesting month in Puerto Vallarta - it offers opportunities to enjoy our beautiful city without the crowds. With students preparing for graduation or the release from schools for summer break, we see air fares, hotels and restaurants are all offering incentives to come to PV.

May does start the warm or summer season here, the deeper into the month, the higher the daily temperature with the humidity. Now this may be on the side of negative, but if you’re a fisherman this is music to your ears. We will see the Dorado come back in force.

The Sailfish are back in their usual hang-outs and water temperatures will be warming up as an open invitation to billfish of all kinds. But you don’t need to wait until June, May also brings in the coveted Blue Marlin!

With bait filling the fishing grounds, prospects for the coming fishing season are looking up.

Now there is more than fishing to Puerto Vallarta, we all know that. But what else is there? Well why not try a Sunday Brunch at the Botanical Gardens, or visit the Zoo when you are out that way and see the baby Panthers. For a price, you can get your photo taken with them. Maybe the Farmers' Market in Old Town or Discover Puerto Vallarta’s Private Marina and Restaurant Row! There are a lot of things going on in May along with festivals and fiestas!

So whatever you do, pull yourself away from the pool and make a point to discover Vallarta, one of the safest places in the world to vacation!

That’s about it for now, until next week, don’t forget to kiss your fish!
