Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Hurricane Hilary is moving away from Mexico's southwestern coast in the Pacific, but it is a powerful Category 4 storm with maximum sustained winds as of early Friday at nearly 145 mph (235 kph).

Centered about 125 miles (200 kilometers) south-southwest of Zihuatanejo, Mexico, and moving west near 10 mph (16 kph), Hilary is not forecast to make landfall.

The tropical storm warning and tropical storm watch previously in place for portions of the Mexican coast have been discontinued by the government of Mexico.
