Rudolph Ryser on Climate Change and Indigenous Food Systems in West Mexico

Olympia, Washington resident and Washington State University alumnus Dr. Rudolph Ryser is the second member of the Center for World Indigenous Studies to receive a Fulbright Award.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Dr. Rudolph Ryser, 2011-2012 Fulbright scholar in west Mexico, will deliver the first talk and Q&A of a series on Climate Change, Food Security and Indigenous Food Systems in West Mexico on Friday, November 25th from 9-10:30 am at the UNIVA, as part of the 20th anniversary week at La Universidad del Valle de Atemajac.

The talk will be in English (with Spanish translation of text provided.) The public is welcome. Dr. Ryser is the founding director of the Center for World Indigenous Studies and has worked internationally developing laws on behalf of the rights of indigenous peoples.


Dr. Leslie Korn specializes in integrative mind body medicine for the treatment of PTSD and chronic illness. She did her graduate training at Harvard Medical School where she introduced bodywork to the department of psychiatry and conducted ethnobotanical research on Papaya. She began her research in Cabo Corrientes in 1974, and was a 2009-2010 Mexico Fulbright scholar. She currently divides her time between PV and Washington.
