Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Preparations are well underway for the first Tianguis celebrated in 37 years in a new region - hosted jointly by Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta. Mexico's most important travel industry event, Tianguis, will be held on March 25-28, 2012.

Since attendance at this conference provides an ideal opportunity for travel professionals to experience this spectacular region, special rates will be offered for hotels, car rentals, golf courses, sightseeing, dining and other attractions in the region.

Federal and State Government authorities have already held several meetings with local travel industry representatives from both destinations, making progress in the areas of conference center exhibition distribution, transportation routes and official events.

In addition, Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta have been working together to make this year's Tianguis more attractive to buyers, tourism professionals and participants in order to attract new interest and business for all of Mexico's travel industry.

Hotels in both destinations have already set aside special room blocks at discounted rates for participants attending Tianguis. The destinations have also been able to secure special discounts on car rentals, tours and golf courses.

Riviera Nayarit and Puerto Vallarta are planning exciting activities to augment the official Tianguis 2012 program, providing participants with the opportunity to experience the many attractions and advantages of these two destinations. These include:

• Two special golf tournaments for Tianguis participants will be held on different dates at El Tigre Golf & Country Club in Riviera Nayarit and Vista Vallarta Golf Club in Puerto Vallarta.

• Restaurant Week Tianguis 2012 Edition will offer specially priced three-course gourmet menus at several restaurants in both destinations to encourage participants to try the regional cuisine and excellent restaurants.

• Polo Competition in San Pancho

• Extravaganza Nautica sailing and water sports competitions throughout March
