Mariachi Concert to Benefit the University Centra Costa

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Dr. Max Greig, Rector of the University Centra Costa, announced a Mariachi concert to be held at the Juan Luis Cifuentes Lemus Auditorium where admission will be granted with a financial donation made to the university.

Dr.Greig stated in a press conference to publicize the details of the event that, "This Mariachi concert is a way of furthering the involvement of the University of Guadalajara in society and culture where, as at the University Centra Costa, we have a strong interest in encouraging cultural activities.”

Cesar David Macias Martinez, Outreach Coordinator, who was present at the announcement of the second concert, stated that the Mariachi is part of the essence, identity, and national culture of Mexico, which has even been declared by The United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The first successful Mariachi concert organized by CUCosta was held last October. Showcasing such bands as Joya de Mexico, Real de America, and Nuevo Continental who held the audience rapt for more than two hours.

The funds that were raised were used to finance a delegation of student athletes who participated in sports events at the University of Guadalajara. A total of 83 students participated in events such as football, baseball, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, and track and field.

For this concert the program will include the Mariachi bands: Navidad, Nuevo Continental, and Real de America. The show will be accessible through a financial contribution of $250 pesos for VIP seating, $180 for Preferred, and $150 pesos for General Access. The show will happen on the 17th of February at 7:00 pm.
