August 7, 2012

Puerto Vallarta based Aviana Productions picked up four awards for video marketing at this year's 16th annual Videographer Awards. Up against over 1,600 entries from around the world, the boutique agency won for subject matter as diverse as a piece produced for the former President of Mexico, to a 21st century developmental city-of-the-future. Founded by Emmy Award winning journalists Jon Duncanson and Sylvia Gomez, Aviana Production continues a streak of award winning years. The company won 3 international Aurora Awards in 2010-11, as well as three Aegis Awards.

Aviana Productions has been a pioneer in internet video marketing, creating messaging films exclusively for streaming or download so that clients and customers could instantly see a show-and-tell presentation. The company completely bypassed television or dvd distribution.

"We saw that internet pipelines would be expanding," says Jon Duncanson, founder. "We use a straight ahead, no nonsense style to show consumer and clients - who are media savvy in today's fast paced world - a non-hyped, interesting view of our own client's world."

Cisco Systems estimates there will be 1.5 billion online video consumers by 2015 and that video will account for 90 percent of Internet traffic by 2013.

A study cited by Reelseo.com states that the availability of video content can increase conversion rates by as much as 46 percent even if the customer doesn't actually watch the video. The authors of the study concluded that the option of watching a product video boosts consumer confidence and makes people more comfortable with the brand.

The four winning videos were produced for business software developer Atlassian, a TV show pitch for former Mexican president Vicente Fox, and two large real estate developments, Beaufort East Village and Chatham Park, for North Carolina based Preston Development Company.

The Videographer Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. The international organization consists of several thousand marketing, communication, advertising, public relations, media production and free-lance professionals who have entered AMCP programs.
