Archie's Wok Adds Stories to Their 'Memories' Campaign

April 30, 2013

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Since 1986, Archie's Wok has been legendary in Banderas Bay for serving-up original cuisine influenced by the exotic flavors of Thailand, the Philippines and the Pacific Rim.

Archie's helped establish the culinary foundation of Puerto Vallarta and continues to be one of the bay's most beloved, longtime established restaurants.

It all began in 1976 when Archie was asked to become Hollywood director John Huston's private chef at his personal retreat on Banderas Bay's south shore. Now, Archie's family will be sharing additional peeks into their personal stories about the early years in a series of popular ads found in various newspapers and websites throughout Banderas Bay.

Guests will also discover a treasure trove of photos displayed throughout the restaurant featuring memorable moments of Archie's time with John and of the early years of the restaurant. Through the ads and photos, Archie's family hopes that guests will discover there's more to their history than just great flavors.

Here's a sneak peek at a fun new story:

Carlo Ponti's Visit: Carlo Ponti, famed Italian film producer and husband to Sophia Loren, enjoyed dropping in on John occasionally to renew old friendships. One day around noon Ponti's helicopter surprised everybody by descending onto a very small strip of beach in front of John's house, its blades sucking fish out of the ocean with like a scene from the Apocalypse. Sardines were raining down on the beach as Maricela, John's partner, ordered everyone to run down with her and start tossing them back into the ocean before they died. Carlo Ponti stepped out of the helicopter bearing a couple of bottles of his finest Italian Chiantis, ready to settle in for some serious backgammon with John.

Sometimes we all need more than just chips, guacamole and margaritas. Archie's Wok is your haven for bold and innovative flavors when you are looking for a change from that Mexican groove. So when you finally say, "Let's try something new," head on over to Archie's Wok and discover a world of flavors. Ask about their "gluten free" options, and don't forget to vote for Archie's Wok as Vallarta's "Best International Restaurant" in the Best of Banderas Bay Restaurant Poll, right HERE on BanderasNews.com.

Open Monday through Saturday from 2-11 pm, Archie's Wok has been named the "Best Asian" restaurant in Vallarta since 2005. The ever-popular d'Rachael continues to perform classical and contemporary music on harp, flute, and vocals each Friday evening from 7:30 to 10:30 pm.

Archie's Wok is located on Puerto Vallarta’s South Side at Francisca Rodriguez #130. You know the street - the one that meets the new Los Muertos Pier. No reservations needed. For more information, click HERE, call (322) 222-0411, or send an email to Info(at)ArchiesWok.com.
