Vallarta Businesses Support 'City Marketing' Strategy

July 10, 2013

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In an unprecedented effort, Puerto Vallarta has invited approximately 10 million people from eight Mexican cities to visit our destination during the summer vacation season, thanks to the initiative and combined efforts of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust, local businesses, and Grupo ACIR.

Through a market-sharing strategy called "City Marketing," which has worked in various parts of the world and the country, for the first time companies are working together to promote Puerto Vallarta's tourism benefits and services in key markets such as: Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Toluca and their respective metropolitan areas, as well as in Morelia, San Luis Potosi, Queretaro and Leon.

The priority of this effort is to attract national tourism to our city through intensive promotions, sponsored by Grupo ACIR and various Vallarta brands and businesses, with a common goal: the nationwide promotion of Puerto Vallarta as a preferred summer vacation destination.

According to the President of the Puerto Vallarta Association of Hotels and Motels, Ignacio Cadena Beraud, this type of promotion has always worked, and now, "hotel occupancy in our destination is ranging between 80 and 90%." He stressed that "higher occupancy rates in the city's hotels has not only been registered over the weekends, but there has also been an increased in mid-week stays at many hotels in the northern zones."

There seems to be no doubt that the radio spots transmitted in the aforementioned cities during the months of May, June, and July, together with exposure on the Grupo ACIR websites, have helped to position Puerto Vallarta as one of Mexico's preferred national tourism destinations.

With an unprecedented investment of five million pesos, this joint promotional effort was made possible by: Balcones Vallarta, Hotel Hacienda Vallarta, Opequimar, Hotel Las Palmas By The Sea, Hoteles Krystal, Grupo Hotelero Guadalajara, Hotel Suites del Sol, El Arrayán, Sendero Las Galeanas, Tropicasa Realty, Fidetur, and Grupo ACIR.
