Funjet Vallarta-Nayarit Ad Campaigns in the Works

August 5, 2013

With a strategy focused heavily on travel agents, Funjet Vacations will be promoting the Vallarta - Nayarit campaign to the wholesaler's database of more than 65,000 registered travel agents.

Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico - With the recent signing of the agreement between Funjet Vacations and Vallarta - Nayarit, advertising and promotional campaigns designed to promote the new flights, and fill up the 10,469 new seats that these new flights will generate, are already in the works.

With a strategy focused heavily on travel agents, Funjet Vacations will be promoting the Vallarta - Nayarit campaign to the wholesaler's database of more than 65,000 registered travel agents via electronic media. At the same time, they will be targeting travel agents affiliated with "Travel Leaders" which, as the name implies, are leaders in the industry, by announcing the campaign and promoting press releases on the consortium's website, vacation.com.

To reach the general public in the United States, Travel Pulse and Travel Weekly magazines, which are often consulted by travelers as well as travel agents, are among the print publications being considered for publicity campaigns. The promotion is also getting U.S. television coverage. On June 16, the Vallarta - Nayarit campaign was announced on Good Morning Texas, one of the most popular morning programs in a state that is one of the major sources of tourists to Puerto Vallarta.

In conventional media, Vallarta - Nayarit advertising will be coming out in major newspapers and radio spots in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Chicago, and St. Louis. Note that in these last two cities, travel shows with attractive designs of the joint campaign are scheduled to take place in November.

A constant tool that helps travel agents make more sales to new destinations by traveling there to experience the attractions are familiarization trips. This year, Funjet Vacations has already made two 'Fam Trips' to Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit, each comprising 16 travel agents who visited last May 29 and June 8 respectively. During these visits, the travel agents toured hotels and attractions in both locations, and attended training seminars taught by representatives of both tourism boards.

Given the progress of the joint campaign and the positive response obtained from Funjet Vacations, the Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board, Mr. Guillermo Ochoa Ohem, said: "We are very optimistic about the progress of the Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit joint promotional campaign. The agreement for the generation of 10,469 seats on flights originating in 5 cities in the United States with Funjet Vacations certainly means that our consolidated efforts will be of huge benefit to both destinations. We are working together in the development of advertising and promotional plans to support these new flights. The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Trust is participating in this strategy with funds provided by the Government of the State of Jalisco."
