Riviera Nayarit Events Attracted Over 37,000 Tourists

August 19, 2013

Riviera Nayarit has procured positive results by enticing sporting and cultural events, and by attracting congresses and conventions during the first semester of 2013.

Riviera Nayarit, Mexico - During the first semester of 2013, Riviera Nayarit hosted 280 special events and conventions with the participation of 37,483 tourists. This represent 7% of the region's total number of visitors over this period of time, and helps to accomplish the goals that Governor Roberto Sandoval has set for the benefit of Nayarit.

"Supporting events and conventions in Riviera Nayarit carries an important marketing value because these events attract opinion leaders in specific market segments, who later become 'touristic ambassadors,' as they usually attract specialized media that cover these events and work as PR and Marketing assets," explained the director of the CAB of Riviera Nayarit, Marc Murphy.

The representative of this private non-profit association underlined the work being made by the CAB of Riviera Nayarit, as it helped to attract 99 congresses, which included 28,566 participants. Plus, 4,071 persons visited Riviera Nayarit in 86 incentive travel actions and 300 visitors attended expos.

From January until June, Riviera Nayarit also hosted 94 sport and cultural events like the Punta Sayulita SUP & Longboard Classic, the Mini Kiteboard World Cup, the Riviera Nayarit Beach Boogie, the Punta Mita Gourmet & Golf, and the Salsa & Mambo Riviera Nayarit Fest. These events attracted not only personalities for the sports, culinary and entertainment circles, but they also brought 4,501 participants to our destination.

"We are certain that the support given to events, like the National Association of Neurologists Congress that is being held in Riviera Nayarit August 14-17, contributes to increase the number of visitors, to the benefit of all Nayarit," said Marc Murphy.
