Tourist Police to Use Segways & ATVs in Tourist Zones

go to original
November 11, 2013

The city is demonstrating its commitment to improving the safety and security of Puerto Vallarta for its visitors and citizens by supplying some of the tourist police, who usually patrol on foot, with Segways.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The city of Puerto Vallarta is getting ready for high season with new and creative ways to ensure visitor safety.

Along with the delivery of 100 new police cars, which is expected soon, the city has already put several new ATVs and Segways into circulation to patrol the tourist areas.

The brand new Segways will be on constant patrol by some of the officers who previously covered the Malecon and Romantic Zone on foot - the "tourist police" who are trained to help visitors and also assist with police services when needed - enabling them to watch over a wider area more quickly.

The Segways and ATVs are in the process of being outfitted and labeled, and you should be seeing them the next time you wander around downtown or Viejo Vallarta.

With these actions, the Municipal Government is demonstrating its commitment to improve the safety and security of Puerto Vallarta for its visitors and citizens.
