Puerto Vallarta to Host 2015 NATJA Conference

New York, NY - The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board has won the hosting responsibilities of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA) 2015 Conference & Marketplace, which is scheduled to be held in Puerto Vallarta next May.

Founded in 1991 by a group of travel writers, NATJA is the second largest association of writers, photographers, editors, and tourism professionals dedicated to redefining professional development for the travel industry. Members of the association have been published in leading publications including the New York Times, National Geographic and USA Today.

Puerto Vallarta, an active member of NATJA, has been participating in the NATJA Awards for three years in a row, with hotel and vacations packages to the destination distributed to the winning writers.

"For Puerto Vallarta is it important to be able to work with the best and most professional associations possible. Our work with NATJA over the past three years has proven the benefit this journalists association can bring to Puerto Vallarta," said Rolando Miravete, Executive Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board.

Over 200 active journalists, associate members, and guests are expected to participate in the conference from May 5-8, 2015, which will mark the first time the conference takes place outside of the United States.

"We are pleased to bring our conference to Puerto Vallarta, a destination that is very popular with our membership, and we are confident that their experience in this beautiful destination will result in wonderful stories, tweets and blogs," stated Helen Hernandez, NATJA CEO. "We look forward to introducing our members to a new side of Mexico, and highlighting Puerto Vallarta’s world-class tourism infrastructure."

Details on the conference are still under development, with registration starting with this year’s conference, to be held in Huntsville, AL from September 16-19, 2014.

Via its PR agency, LATITUDE, in 2012 Puerto Vallarta hosted the Canadian chapter of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW), the largest professional travel journalist association in North America.
