Tourism Board Promoting Vallarta via Social Media

October 13, 2014

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board continues to work with bloggers and social media to assure travelers that the city is 100% operational after last month's passings of hurricanes Nobert, Odile, and Polo.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Last week, the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board continued its proactive work with bloggers and social media via a Twitter party and a second bloggers' trip for the year. Both efforts promoted the fact that the city is 100% operational despite hurricanes Nobert, Odile and Polo, which came close to the destination last month.

Participants included writers from About.com, Cancuncanuck, Huffington Post, Man About World, Mexpro.com, Out Traveler, Travalliance, and Travelista TV.

The bloggers participated in a general agenda designed to show that Puerto Vallarta's airport, beaches, cruise terminal, hotels, resorts, convention center, and tour operations are all up-and-running and welcoming visitors.

The bloggers were hosted by the Casa Velas Hotel and visited Las Caletas, the Rio Cuale crafts market, participated in the sea turtle release program at Marriott CasaMagna and Vallarta Adventure's Outdoor Adventure, and tasted the many flavors of Puerto Vallarta by dining at Cafe des Artistes, El Arrayán, and the Emiliano Gourmet Cuisine Restaurant. They also experienced the luxury of Casa Velas' Ocean Beach Club and the Marriott CasaMagana Ohtli Spa.

The Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board also partnered with blogger personality @SassyModernMom in a Twitter party targeting family travel bloggers and consumers. The event made the hashtag #VisitPV the number 2 trending topic in Canada for almost 2 hours and number 9 in Vancouver for the same amount of time. Over 300 contributors participated in the party, generating 30 million impressions.

As part of the tourism board's U.S. and Canada PR Campaign, managed by LATITUDE, Puerto Vallarta has worked on a number of innovative initiatives with social media and online publications, including work with TBEX, of which it became a member in 2012.
