Vallarta Expecting a Half-Million Holiday Tourists

December 16, 2014

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - According to Mayor Ramón Guerrero Martínez, during the winter holidays Puerto Vallarta will receive more than half a million domestic and international tourists, representing an economic impact of at least $500 million pesos.

The Christmas holidays typically brings an influx of tourism to the Banderas Bay region, but the International Fireworks Festival, which is taking place from December 25th-31st in Puerto Vallarta, encourages even more travel to the area this season.

In a recent interview, the mayor said that this destination has 25 thousand hotel rooms and, according to the Puerto Vallarta Hotels and Motels Association, they are already almost 100 percent booked for the holidays.

He said that the city's tourism service providers, as well as police and municipal authorities, are properly coordinated and ready to receive and welcome all visitors, with the aim of ensuring that everyone has a safe and memorable holiday in Puerto Vallarta and returns home happy.

He reminds everyone that the City of Puerto Vallarta has an Oficina Municipal de Atención y Asistencia al Turista y Residente Extranjero (Municipal Office to Attend and Assist Foreign Tourists and Residents) at Plaza Lazaro Cardenas on PV's South side. The office, designed to assist foreign residents and tourists with any problems they may have and/or report any incident, is manned by a specially trained, English- and French-speaking staff, is open 24/7, and can be reached by telephone at (322) 222-2224.

He also mentioned that during December, the police force will be working round-the-clock. "All shifts will be running at 100 percent to maintain the safety of tourists and the local population. The city is ready," he said.
