February 9, 2015

Mexico City - Denise Garcia has been named the first Miss Bumbum in Mexico, and she won't be the last.

The competition, which was adapted from the popular Brazilian pageant, ended on the last weekend of January, and now Garcia is able to say she has the best butt in Mexico. "I'm very happy to represent Mexican beauty in this first edition of Miss Bumbum," said the Veracruz native, according to HuffPost Voces. "Now I would like to devote my time to social activities, like donating at orphanages."

Though the competition aimed to celebrate natural beauty, some were upset with Garcia's win. SDP Noticias reports that people said the competition was dishonest. When Garcia was given her flowers after being named the winner, some shouted, "Fraud! The silicone won." Meanwhile, others said it was Pamela Perez who should have been named Miss Bumbum Mexico 2014.

Though there was some criticism, there's already plans for a second edition of Miss Bumbum Mexico. "#MissBumBumMexico was a complete success thanks to all our followers and friends, we'll see each other in the 2nd edition of #MissBumBumMexico," a Tweet from the competition's organizers said. The competition's Instagram account states, 'the finalists will be touring throughout Mexico.'

Miss Bumbum Mexico aimed to have different kinds of women participating, according to La Opinion. "We don't want to be pigeonholed with one type of woman," said Alberto Gonzalez, a spokesman for the show. "We want any type of woman to participate. We think it will be an excellent opportunity to take them into other platforms, where they will have a lot of exposure. We think that one million pesos will be very attractive, and we have four judges, who are a surprise."
