Global Medical Projects Volunteers Working in Zapopan

June 5, 2015

With the goal of teaching professional medical practices, Global Medical Projects gives students from the best medical universities in the world the opportunity to gain medical experience in a different country.

Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico - At the beginning of its administration in 2012, the SSMZ ODP (El Organismo Público Descentralizado) of Zapopan signed an international collaboration agreement with Global Medical Projects (GMP), an international organization dedicated to, among other things, the training of doctors, paramedics and medical professionals.

With the goal of teaching professional medical practices for the benefit of all, Global Medical Projects gives students from the best medical universities in the world the opportunity to gain medical experience in a different country. Which, in this case, is in Zapopan, Mexico.

This collaboration is reinforced with in-kind donations for training paramedics and health professionals. In the course of this administration, the Zapopan ODP has welcomed students from around the world for their professional training. The majority of the students have come from Australia and England, but students have also come from Germany, Canada, India and the United States.

In recent years, along with the great learning experiences and lasting friendships that have been formed, the project has encouraged the practice of new languages for SSMZ OPD Zapopan and Cruz Verde staff members.

"Our relationships have been strengthened over the years and we are now forming links for research and the monitoring of staff training processes so we can continue with the important cultural exchange that is lived day-by-day at work," said the director of GMP, Ariel Lopez Dueñas.

At the head of this international agreement, which has been signed and included on the H. Municipality of Zapopan transparency page is Dr. Sergio Quintero, CEO; Dr. Jesus Velarde, Medical Director; Dr. Armando Valdivia, Emergency Medical Director; Dr. Mario Rodriguez, Director of Education and Research; and his counterpart, Mr. Ariel Dueñas López, Director of Mexico and Latin America for Global Medical Projects.

Agreements of this importance are achieved only under the coordination of organizations seeking to raise the level of greatness in their community.
