July 28, 2015

About five hundred plants were bedded on the median of Puerto Vallarta's Avenida México, including Silveiras, Bougainvillea, Muñeca and Ixora; as well as Amapas, Primavera, Olivo and Almond trees.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The acting mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Javier Pelayo Mendez; along with employees of the Coca Cola company and their families, dozens of volunteers and government officials gathered Sunday to reforest the stretch of median on Avenida México that lies between the trail and la Avenida de los Poetas. About 500 plants were bedded, including Silveiras, Bougainvillea, Muñeca and Ixora; as well as Amapas, Primavera, Olivo and Almond trees.

Before starting the reforestation, the mayor thanked the representatives of the soft drink company and all of the volunteers for their efforts to help improve the environment and promote a new culture of coexistence with nature.

"On behalf of the Municipal government and all Vallartenses, it is an honor to participate in these activities. Thanks to Coca Cola for joining us in showing that we know how to work as a team, and that we work together well. It is also important that children are here working with their parents today because this instills respect for the environment. We know how important trees are to our lives, we hope that more people join in this type of work, Vallarta needs each of its inhabitants to care for and beautify it," he said.

In the coming months the Coca Cola company will adopt the median and take charge of watering and pruning the plants and trees that were planted; while the maintenance will be the responsibility of the Municipal Parks and Gardens Department.
