US Postpones Computer Aid Program to Mexico for Redesign

The U.S. Embassy says it is cancelling a planned delivery of computer systems to Mexico to aid that country's judicial reform in order to re-design the package. The embassy said the U.S. government continues to support Mexico's effort to move from closed, written court proceedings to oral trials and a system that puts the burden of proof on prosecutors. The 2008 constitutional reform has yet to be implemented in most of Mexico. The embassy said Monday the package of software and hardware will be "substituted by a new version that will give the Mexican government more efficiency, more territorial coverage and greater flexibility." The aid is part of the Merida Initiative, under which the United States has given Mexico $1.4 billion so far in equipment and training.

First Lo de Marcos Sea Turtle Festival

The 1st Lo de Marcos Sea Turtle Festival will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015, to help promote the protection of this vital endangered species, as well as create an engaging experience filled with art, sports and culture in this micro destination, one of the Pueblos Pintorescos (Picturesque Towns) of the Riviera Nayarit. The event is the result of an initiative by the Lo de Marcos Turtle Camp and the invitation is open to the entire family. Doors open from 10 a.m. onwards at the Palapa in Villas de Tlaquepaque. Besides observing the liberation of baby sea turtles, there will be conferences held about the species and environmental education in general in order to encourage the values and ideas that subscribe to their preservation and that of the environment. Activities include sculpting, drawing and handicrafts contests all related to sea turtles, a beach volleyball tournament, a Paddle Board exhibition by Oliver Cruz and a Paddle Board yoga session with Gaby Abnashi. There will also be an area for kids, food and drink, music and lots of family fun.

First Ever Legends World Cup to be Held in Mexico in 2017

Football fans will be very excited to hear about plans for a new World Cup tournament consisting of legendary former footballers. The tournament is set to be held in Mexico in 2017, according to ESPN. At this stage it is assumed that it will be called the Legends World Cup. We can also assume that the title will be missing an apostrophe in the same manner that the Champions League is. An excerpt from the ESPN article reads: 'The likely event venues would be Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey and is expected to have 12 teams, six European, Holland, Germany, Italy, Spain, France and England; four Americans Mexico, United States, Brazil and Argentina; African, South Africa; and an Asian, Japan.' Former greats like Zinedine Zidane and Michael Ballack are expected to play in the tournament. All players will be between 35 and 45 years old. Matches will be 60 minutes long and there will be unlimited substitutions. Proceeds from the tournament will be donated to various Mexican foundations. Further details of the exciting initiative will be revealed in January 2016.
