DIF Delivers Christmas Cheer to Vulnerable PV Families

December 16, 2015

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The System for Integral Family Development (DIF) of Puerto Vallarta, recently delivered 300 Christmas despensas (food baskets) to people of limited means in the 30 sectors of the municipality.

The president of the welfare agency, Candelaria Tovar Davalos, personally led the delegation in the delivery to the residents of Sector 10 in the upper part the Pitillal, where Colonias Volcanoes and Lomas St. Nicholas are located, where she was profoundly thanked for the support during this holiday season.

Sr. Cleto Mejia was especially excited by the delivery because it also served as a reunion with Sra. Candelaria Tovar, who often treated him when she served as a nurse at the IMSS clinic. He told her that "this support is very nice, and how good that it comes at this time of year."

Sra. Esperanza Ortiz Martinez was facing a difficult situation as an administrative management problem prevented her from getting her late husband's pension. She said that receiving this food in time for the holidays was an excellent gift.

Señora Floria Aréchiga Pelayo lives alone in a modest home in the Lomas de San Nicolas. She thanked Sra. Candelaria Tovar for the kind gesture with a warm embrace and wished her a Merry Christmas, saying that it is a time of love and solidarity.

Previously, the Director of Social Development, Diego Franco Jimenez, and the coordinators of the 30 sectors of the municipality arrived at the DIF facilities ready to transport the rest of the groceries to different colonias in every corner of the municipality.

The Director of Social Development took the opportunity to present the sector coordinators to the President of DIF, so that the coordinated effort would result in benefiting the Vallarta community more efficiently than in previous years. Sra. Candelaria Tovar categorically instructed them that the despensas should only be given to people in really vulnerable situations.
