Mexi Log Fest '16 in Sayulita This Weekend

Mexi Log Fest '16 (MXLF), the second edition of The Classic Longboard Surf and Lifestyle Festival in Sayulita, Riviera Nayarit, is set to take place February 19-21. Organizers are working to make the 2016 festival even better than their first event, Mexi Log Fest 2015, which was a great success! This year’s event will feature four days of surf, music, art and photography, bringing together 64 top notch competitors (32 men, 32 women) from around the world, including Corey Colapinto, Tommy Witt, Harley Ingleby, Mickey De Temple, Ryan Burch, Justin Quintal, Justine Mauvin, Vanina Walsh, Chloe Calmon, Leah Dawson, Lola Mignot, Victoria Vergara, Kelia Moniz, Lindsay Steinriede-Engle and Lauren Hill. $12,000 USD in prize money will be divided equally between men and women. A unique Tag Team Tournament will feature teams of four, two pro surfers and two local children, a great way to encourage them to discover the sport. Details and more information can be found in the event's website, mexilogfest.com.

14th National Charro Championships Puerto Vallarta, March 3-6

From March 3rd through 6th, 21 of the best charro teams in Mexico will gather at the Miguel "Prieto" Ibarría Rodeo Grounds in Puerto Vallarta to compete in the 14 Campeonato Nacional de Charro (14th National Charro Championships.) "Because in our sport, horsemanship comes first there won't be any bad days for watching the competitions..." said an organizing committee member who added that the 14th edition of the national championships will be the best charro party in the region. In addition to hot rodeo action, festivities include the traditional "Maleconeada," a parade that historically starts off at Parque Hidalgo, (at the beginning of the Malecón) and ends at Los Arcos del Malecón in downtown Puerto Vallarta, where you'll enjoy free live music and dance performances, plus rope flourishing demonstrations and other activities. After the competitions at Lienzo Charro Miguel "Prieto" Ibarria on Saturday, March 5th, Mariano Barba and special guest Leo Ibbaria will perform a concert at 10 pm. The Lienzo Charro Rodeo Grounds are located on Mexico Avenue, directly behind the Central Camionera (Bus station) and in front of UNIVA (University of Atemajac) near the Convention Center.
