Puerto Vallarta Nominated for Four 2017 Travvy Awards

August 9, 2016

Travelers and travel experts agree: the blend of excellent beaches, authentic regional cuisine and a quaint atmosphere sets Puerto Vallarta apart from other vacation destinations in Mexico and around the world.

Puerto Vallarta has been nominated for four 2017 Travvy Awards, the most nominations given to a Mexican destination this year. Known as the 'Oscars of the Travel Industry,' the Travvys Awards, held every January in New York City, recognize high standards of excellence and outstanding achievements.

The 2017 Travvy Awards that Puerto Vallarta is in the running for include Mexico's "Best City" and "Best Culinary" destination, and on the International front, the "Best Family" and "Best LGBTQ" destination.

Travel suppliers, destinations and individuals from all over the world are eligible to vote for the nominees in the travel companies, products, agencies, and destinations categories. Last year, nearly 40,000 travel professionals voted on their favorites to determine the 2016 Travvy Awards winners, who were honored during an awards dinner and presentation attended by travel professionals and industry leaders.

As one of Mexico's top tourism destination, Puerto Vallarta is alive with authentic culture, art, nightlife and a wide range of award-winning traditional and international restaurants. In its 100-year-old historic downtown area, you will find the iconic Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Los Arcos Amphitheater, where live entertainment and all different kinds of outdoor attractions occur nightly, and the Malecón, a considerably more than one mile long seawall, or boardwalk, that stretches to Los Muertos Beach at the south end to Hidalgo Park at the north end.

Beyond the downtown area, Puerto Vallarta makes for a vacation full of activities that all can enjoy. From riding zip lines across tree tops or swimming with dolphins in the wild, to taking a cooking class at one of the traditional restaurants or enjoying a guided tour of the local art galleries, visitors of all ages and interests can share memorable moments during their fun-filled vacation.

Puerto Vallarta is home to over 22,000 hotel rooms, with more than half of them in 4 and 5 diamond properties. Some of them have also been nominated for the 2017 Travvys, including Hacienda San Angel, which was nominated as the "Best Boutique Hotel in Mexico," and Casa Velas and Velas Vallarta, which were nominated as part of the Velas Resort under "Best Luxury Hotel Chain."

The Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta was also nominated for two of the Best All-Inclusive Resorts in Mexico categories - "Best for Families" and "Best for Honeymoons."

In addition, the Now Amber Puerto Vallarta received multiple nominations, the Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta is up for the "All Inclusive Resort & Spa" award, and the Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta is in the running for "Best Adults Only All Inclusive." Marriott CasaMagna Puerto Vallarta was also nominated as part of the Marriott International hotels under "Best Hotel Chain - Overall."
