December 13, 2016

Nathalie Herling of Creative Clay Cooking will be sharing her Mexican, Texas and Colombia recipes for traditional Christmas tamales in the ART VallARTa kitchen on Monday, December 19 from 3:00-7:00 pm.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Following the rich Mexican tradition of making Tamales for Christmas ART VallARTa will host a hands on start-to-finish Tamale making workshop on Monday, December 19th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm.

Nathalie Herling of Creative Clay Cooking will be sharing her Mexican, Texas and Colombia recipes for traditional Christmas tamales, which many she has prepared for over 30 years, in ART VallARTa's handmade Mexican tile kitchen overlooking the ocean on the south side of Puerto Vallarta.

We will be making traditional corn husk tamales with pork and vegetarian options as well as sweet tamales, a Norteña Christmas traditions that reaches into Texas and California, and Colombian style banana leaf tamales with chicken, egg and olives. We will be using clay pots to make our delicious fillings and masa, and for steaming the tamales too.

For drinking, we will make a Purple Corn and Pineapple Chicha to keep us cool while we are cooking, and Cafe de Olla and Colombian hot chocolate, classic holiday beverages, to keep us caffeinated while we are making all of those Tamales.

This workshop will likely go on for at least 4 hours as we cook, laugh and make a lovely communal mess making delicious tamales. It might even turn into a Tamale Fiesta with Vino Caliente (warm wine) after we are done!

Come enjoy a fun gathering to do what Mexican cooks have enjoyed for centuries – cook and chat, gossip and laugh while making tamales.

We recommended you bring lots of good stories to share, an apron and some containers, as you will be taking home lots of tamales to share with family and friends, or to freeze and enjoy later.

The price of the Christmas Tamales workshop is $1238 pesos ($60 USD). Space is limited to 8 people so click HERE to make your reservations today!

The ART VallARTa Kitchen is located at 213 Calle Pilitas in Puerto Vallarta's Romantic Zone.
