Stolie's Second Season in Vallarta Comes to an End

April 10, 2017

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Singer-songwriter Rebecca Stoelinga, aka "Stolie," is getting ready to pack up and head home to Chicago, where she will turn her focus back to performing for children all summer long. After her first successful season singing for grown-ups in Puerto Vallarta, she came back for a second winter in early November 2016, right after the Cubs won the World Series.

During her first season, Stolie found a home at Que?Pasa, on the west end of Emiliano Zapata, where she performs on Thursday nights and for special holiday events. She also helped the children of the neighborhood prepare for an annual Christmas Eve concert. Stolie will give her final performance there on April 13th at 7:30 pm.

This season was lit up with a new show called "Simon & Girlfunkel" at Act II Stages' Red Room Cabaret, in which Stolie teamed up with Brittany Kingery, who played the part of Art on percussion. The girls heated up the room during four nights of shows ending with standing ovations.

Over the past few months, Stolie has made appearances at other events as well — at the River of Art Fest with Brittany, the 2017 Riverfest at El Rio BBQ, the St. Patrick's Day party at Casa Isabel, and every other Wednesday to entertain at Nacho Daddy's Charity Bingo event to support Pasitos de Luz and Colina Spay and Neuter Clinic. Stolie also presented bilingual acoustic music (in Spanish and English) at Mangos Beach Club during their weekend brunches.

In anticipation of the release of her new album, Follow Me, Stolie held a CD release party on January 28 at the brand new Incanto Theater in Old Town, where, backed by a band, she showcased her new tunes to a packed house on the second night of the cabaret's opening. She continued showcasing her "acoustic songcraft with a twist" on Monday evenings in the upstairs piano bar throughout the season.

Stolie's final show of the season will be held on Friday, April 14th. The night will kick off at 7 pm with an encore performance of "Cantautoras: Songwriters in the Round," during which Stolie will share the stage with local songwriters, Ivette Guadarrama, Niu Curbelo and Sarah en La Luna. Stolie's final show will follow at 9 pm highlighting some of her more memorable moments and songs of the 2016-17 season.
