DIF & World Access Project Team Up for the Disabled

May 1, 2017

Last week, the World Access Project team and the Puerto Vallarta DIF, through the Municipal Council for Disability (COMUDIS), delivered orthopedic devices to nearly 50 beneficiaries who are part of this program.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The municipal DIF system, the Comprehensive Care Program for the Disabled (PAID) and the World Access Project Association, are working together to support Vallartenses who require orthopedic devices.

"World Access Project is an association that donates used and rebuilt wheelchairs and knows that we, through PAID, have people who need this support, so we are working together to get better results and give citizens a wheelchair, walker or cane to improve their quality of life," said the President of DIF Puerto Vallarta, Candelaria Tovar de Dávalos.

On Monday and Tuesday of last week, the Municipal Council for Disability (COMUDIS) delivered the orthopedic devices to the nearly 50 beneficiaries who are part of this program, as well as instruction for the proper use and care of the equipment.

"Before we sent the request to the association, we took measurements of the recipients so that the wheelchairs, walking sticks and walkers could be adapted for them. Then the entire file was sent to the World Access Project so that they could deliver ready-to-use equipment," Candelaria Tovar explained.

The beneficiaries were then informed of the day and the hour in which they could pick up their apparatuses. Those who could not appear at their scheduled time on Monday or Tuesday were outfitted by the World Access Project team, headed by director Richard St. Dennis, at Perdón y Amistad Christian Church in Col. Barrio Santa Maria on Wednesday.
