Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - In an atmosphere of peace, solidarity, reflection and support of the Venezuelan cause, around 300 people dressed in white, some holding candles, gathered in Puerto Vallarta last weekend to launch an "SOS" for Venezuela.

The demonstration, described as solemn and peaceful, was held late Saturday evening on the land located to one side of the hotel Puerto de Luna on Avenue Francisco Medina Ascencio, where a human "SOS" was formed as a symbol of an appeal for help and support for the people of Venezuela.

The assembly, mostly of Venezuelans based in Puerto Vallarta, although there were also Argentines, Colombians, Ecuadorians, and of course Mexicans, included a moment of silence and the playing of the Venezuelan and Mexican national anthems, as well as speeches that made known the natural wealth of Venezuela, along with some of its citizens' demands and requests.

The cards carried by some Venezuelans said: "Enough! No more dead", "Humanitarian channel for Venezuela", "I miss my country and my family", "Far but not absent", "There is no fruit that does not rot and Hair that does not fall. Liberty for Venezuela!"

In his speech, Venezuelan Jesus Lira stressed that his demands are focused on "opening a humanitarian channel for the entry of medicines and food; the release of all political prisoners; having elections to elect mayors and governors postponed by the Government without any justification; and recognition by the National Assembly of those elected by more than 80% of the citizens (...) Venezuelans based in Puerto Vallarta and around the world ask for moral and material solidarity with the suffering of our brothers to mitigate their hardships and to achieve an exit to this social crisis without more loss of lives."

"Puerto Vallarta has a considerable population of Venezuelans. Being a friendly city, accustomed to receiving foreign visitors, it is important to join in their cry for help," said Martha Dau, who provided the meeting grounds for the rally and supported the organization of the event.
