Puerto Vallarta Fireworks Festival, December 30-31

December 11, 2017

The Luminia Fest will be held on Dec 30 & 31 at two venues: on the Puerto Vallarta Malecón and at IPEJAL, the field in front of the Municipal Sports Stadium where beach volleyball competitions are typically held.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Christmas holidays are always an exciting time to visit Puerto Vallarta, but this year will be exceptionally entertaining as the city welcomes 2018 in an impressive way... with the II Festival de Pirotecnia Luminia Fest, a world-class fireworks show to be held on the 30th and 31st of this month.

The details of the event were presented at a press conference last week led by Municipal Tourism Director, Ramón González Lomelí, who said that the 'Luminia Fest' is part of the program of activities set to take place next Spring, when the city will host the 17th edition of the International Fireworks Symposium, as part of the celebration of Puerto Vallarta's 100th year as a municipality and 50th as a city on May 31, 2018.

According to the official, the city is investing 3 million pesos in the December event because "it is relevant to the promotion and image of Puerto Vallarta, and consequently benefits its inhabitants."

Mexico is considered among the ten most important countries in the pyrotechnic industry, and the Luminia Fest will bring some of Mexico's best fireworks manufacturers and experts to our city to showcase their various disciplines in professional pyrotechnic displays set to music for the enjoyment of residents and visitors.

The event will feature two musical fireworks displays: the first will be a show produced by Puerto Vallarta's own pyrotechnist Marcelo Mantecón on the Malecón on December 30th; and on the 31st, Mexican pyrotechnic specialist Pablo Hernández will present a digitally designed display at IPEJAL, the field in front of the Municipal Sports Stadium where beach volleyball competitions are typically held.

Before each of these musical fireworks displays, there will be free musical performances by various jazz, rock and Mariachi groups, including a Plastiko concert on the 31st.

The burning of a castle and a 'pyromusical,' a show that coordinates music with fireworks, will bring the II Festival de Pirotecnia Luminia Fest to a close on December 31st as Puerto Vallarta joyfully welcomes 2018.
