PV Chamber Orchestra Announces 2018-2019 Concerts

September 10, 2018

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - Attention, classical music lovers! The Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra (PVCO) and Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta (IAMPV) have released information about their upcoming season of concerts.

What started out as an intercultural cross-generational project, with its first rehearsals in 2004 and premiere concert in 2005, the PVCO has steadily grown to the size of a full orchestra. With over 40 members, including expatriates, professionals and advanced local student musicians, it is now the most advanced orchestral ensemble in Puerto Vallarta and, with more concerts scheduled, some featuring world-class guest soloists, the 2018-2019 season promises to be very exciting!

More information will be released as the performance dates draw nearer but, with so many things happening on any given day during what's known as the "High Season," we wanted to give you a sneak peek at the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra's upcoming season. At this time, the plan is to start all concerts an hour earlier than usual, i.e., 7:00 pm instead of 8:00 pm.

December 2018: Christmas Concerts

The season will start with the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra Christmas Concerts, which are scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 16 in Puerto Vallarta and on Monday, December 17th in Nuevo Vallarta. The Chamber Orchestra's holiday concerts have become an annual tradition, and this year's show will be extra-special with the addition of some romantic music, including Cimarosa's Concerto for Two Flutes featuring guest solo artists, Klaus Liebetanz from Germany and D'Rachael from the US.

January 2019: Chamber Music Under the Stars - and More!

Under the inspiring leadership of Conductor Daniel Oliveros, the Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra (PVCO) will present "Chamber Music Under the Stars," at the Centro Cultural on La Isla Cuale on Saturday, January 19 at 7:00 pm.

Other concerts and recitals featuring smaller ensembles are in the works, including a fundraising event for I AM PV, so be sure to follow IAMPuertoVallarta on Facebook, or visit IAMPV.org for more information as the details are finalized.

February 2019: Shared Concert in Nuevo Vallarta

The PVCO's second full orchestra performance will be a joint concert with the Ruach Singers, a Canadian 8-piece vocal ensemble specializing in Jewish and world music, sung in Hebrew. They will be touring in Mexico and have separated some time to come to PV and perform with the orchestra. The orchestra will play the first half of the concert and the Ruach Singers will perform the second half, followed by a finale, featuring the singers and orchestra together.

March 2019: Puerto Vallarta Chamber Orchestra Spring Concerts

The 2018-2019 season's Spring Concerts will spin around baroque and early classical, featuring Vivaldi's Cello Concerto in E minor with special guest Grammy-award winning cellist Donald Moline, who performed two IAMPV benefit concerts during the 2017-2018 season. These concerts are set to take place on Sunday, March 3 in Puerto Vallarta and on Monday, March 4 in Nuevo Vallarta.

PVCO is hosted by IAMPV (Instituto de Artes Musicales Puerto Vallarta), a Mexican association civil that offers music instruction in symphonic, jazz, and traditional Mexican genres to both starters and experienced, kids and adults.
