Aside from being a singer, entrepreneur and model, Sofia Aragón is an author who has published books that focus on women's empowerment. She will now prepare to represent Mexico at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant.

Mexico City - A 25-year-old beauty representing Jalisco, Sofía Aragón, was crowned Mexicana Universal 2019 last Sunday, June 23 in Mexico City. She bested 30 other contestants from all over the country to win the coveted title.

Aside from being a singer, entrepreneur and mode, Sofia is also an author who has published books: Diamante en Bruto (2017) and El color de lo Invisible (2019), which focus on women's empowerment. She will now prepare to represent Mexico at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant set to take place later this year.

Other winners were Mexicana Universal Internacional 2020, Yuridia Durán (Nayarit) and Mexicana Universal Hispanoamericana 2019, Regina Peredo (Puebla). They will compete in Miss International 2020 and Reina Hispanoamericana 2019, respectively.

Last year's winner and this year's appointed representative at Miss International 2019, Andrea Toscano, passed on her crown at the end of the event. The reigning Miss International from Venezuela, Mariem Velazco graced the national competition.

Mexicana Universal (formerly known as 'Nuestra Belleza México') is a national beauty pageant in Mexico held annually since 1994. In association with Televisa, the organization is directed by the nation's first Miss Universe titleholder, Lupita Jones (1991). It has produced one Miss Universe (2010) – the second title for Mexico in that event, and two Miss International winners, 2007 and 2009. Currently, it is responsible for selecting the country's delegates to Miss Universe, Miss International, and Reina Hispanoamericana.
