2019 Survey Says Vallarta is One of Mexico's Safest Cities

July 19, 2019

According to the most recent National Survey of Urban Public Safety, which covered the second quarter of 2019 (April-June), Puerto Vallarta is considered as one of the safest places to live in Mexico.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - As a result of the security strategies and preventive actions undertaken by city, state and federal authorities over the last few months, Puerto Vallarta is once again considered one of the safest cities in Mexico.

This was evidenced by the results of the most recent National Survey of Urban Public Safety (ENSU), which measures the experiences and perceptions of residents age 18 and above in cities throughout the country.

According to the survey, which covered the second quarter of 2019 (April-June), Puerto Vallarta continues to be one of the safest places to live in Mexico. Among the 70 Mexican cities where the evaluation was conducted, Vallarta placed 6th, with San Pedro Garza García, Mérida, San Nicolás de los Garza, Los Cabos and Durango taking the top 5 spots for citizen security.

It should be noted that the authorities' increased efforts to improve safety in Puerto Vallarta has significantly strengthened residents' sense of security, not just since the Q1 2019 results were reported, but also over the last several months. Between March and June the city's safety rating increased by 20 points.

The positive perception of this city extends to its amenities as well. In the same survey, Puerto Vallarta stood above the rest, with residents saying they had no anxiety when taking public transportation, and that they were pleased with how efficiently the municipal government solved problems in the city.

In this way, this municipality confirms its place as the safest city in Jalisco and remains one of the tourist destinations in Mexico that provide greater security to its inhabitants and international visitors.

Keeping Vallarta safe is an ongoing endeavor that will continue to strengthen. The authorities are redoubling efforts to maintain constant and timely coordination to ensure that residents have better living conditions and that the tourists who vacation here year after year can enjoy the tranquility that they and their families deserve.
