Mayor Continues to Improve Public Safety, City Services

August 12, 2019

The recently delivered police cars, along with the heavy machinery for road maintenance and new garbage trucks that have been ordered, will improve the quality of life for Puerto Vallarta families.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico - The Mayor of Puerto Vallarta, Arturo Dávalos Peña, continues to work every day to improve public safety and the quality of city services - not just in the tourism zones, but in Colonias throughout the municipality.

After the July delivery of 20 new police cars to strengthen public safety, Mayor Dávalos announced that his government intends to continue improving city services, covering everything from security and street lighting to garbage collection and the rehabilitation of roads and public spaces.

"We've ordered heavy machinery for road maintenance in the colonias of Puerto Vallarta, as well as new garbage compactor trucks, all of which will help us improve the quality of life of all who live here; we will continue working for 'El Puerto Que Queremos' (the port we want)," he said.

Dávalos Peña said that there has been a lag in infrastructure works in some of the city's colonias, where 50% of the streets are still dirt roads; and that he has been knocking on state and federal government doors for the resources necessary to solve this problem.

He said that now, through a loan that was authorized by the City Council at the beginning of this administration and which will be duly covered before the end of his term, the municipality's own resources will be used to purchase the heavy equipment that's needed to make improvements.

The Mayor pointed out that the machinery that is about to be delivered will be used to make improvements in colonias throughout the municipality that lack adequate infrastructure and services which, in turn, will improve the quality of life for Puerto Vallarta families.

Dávalos Peña took the opportunity to thank the city councilors and trustees for their support of these initiatives, which will further improve security and public services in Puerto Vallarta.
