The Humpback whale has been described as the most playful and majestic of all whales and during the winter months (December through March), when the whales migrate to the warm waters of Banderas Bay to calve, Puerto Vallarta offers some of the most spectacular whale watching in the world.

Imagine the serenity of sailing across Banderas Bay, as mighty humpback whales surface nearby. Aboard your classic sailing vessel, there is no engine noise to scare off the whales, so you may be lucky enough to see them breach (jump out of the water) or to spot a baby humpback - always a joy!

On Pegaso Charters' whale watching tours, our goal is to provide you with as much exposure to the whales as possible. We also look for the other wild life, snorkel, sail and have a great time in and around Banderas Bay - but the main emphasis of these tours is whale watching. Excellent service and the hospitality of our crew has become the trademark of Pegaso Chartering.

All of our boats are fully licensed whale watching vessels, sanctioned and certified by the Mexican Government, and our respect and passion for the endangered Humpback whale will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime.

Whale Watching at Marietas Islands National Park

After lunch, we head back to Puerto Vallarta and if weather conditions permit, the sails are raised as we continue in our search for whales.

Daily departures from Opequimar at 8 am or from the Paradise Village Marina in Nuevo Vallarta at 9 am, returning at 4:30 pm. Continental Breakfast, snacks, a deli-style lunch, beverages (including open National Bar), snorkeling equipment and Marietas Islands National Park entrance fees are included.

I can't even being to explain how wonderful of a time I had on this excursion. This was by far one of the best things I've ever done. My friends and I were on the Isis sailboat with Benjamin as our tour guide. Initially, it took me a while to get used to the rocking of the boat. But the staff aboard the boat were so helpful in making sure my time on the boat was a pleasant experience. We were served tons of food which included sweet cakes, fruit, guac and chips, sandwiches, rice, and cookies. I was offer beverages at least every ten minutes! The snorkeling was not the best I've seen however the whale watching makes up for it entirely. Our sailboat followed at least 10 whales as they preparing for breeding in the Bay of Bandares. I would definitely do this excursion again with the same boat crew. Everyone was so nice and knowledgeable.
I was on a mother/daughter vacation and both of us would say that our day on the Pegaso Charter to the Marietas Islands was the highlight of our week. The crew was knowledgeable, pleaseant, experienced and professional. It was so much fun. I cannot think of one thing they could do to improve it ... maybe start earlier and sail longer! Will definitely do this again on another trip to Pto. Vallarta and will recommend it to friends.

My self, my girlfriend and two friends went whale watching and snorkling to the Marietas for a full day aboard the Isis, and it was fantastic! We saw lots of whales and dolphins. We also saw beautiful fish and scenery at Marietas. The service was top notch! The crew was also extremly knowledgable about the marine life and the bay in general. Overall an excellent trip on the Isis that went way beyond all expectations. Even the food and beverages were excellent! If you want to be treated like royalty while exploring the bay, this is the only way to go.

We did a tour last November 10th with our group and had the best time ever. We are coming there again on January 6th and would like to book another day trip again with the wedding group we are going with. Thanks.

Went whale watching on the Elias Mann. An exceptional trip! Saw Dolphins, and Giant Manta Rays. Then the crew put us onto a baby and mother Humpback that we watched for over an hour. I'll be back on board next time I'm in PV.

What a great day! I can't believe how many whales we saw... incredible!
We saw whales, dolphins, birds, and all kinds of tropical fish. My kids loved it, and my husband and I were really impressed by the friendly and helpful crew's extensive knowledge and exceptional service.

We toured on the Isis, and it was a great experience on board this classic ship. The crew was first rate with knowledge of the local areas we sailed to as well as the fantastic marine life. Pegaso Chartering really went the extra mile to make sure we were well looked after. For a Canadian from the prairies this was a very worth while trip.

A Day of Whale Watching - and What a Day it Was!
Sergiu Arhip

On this, my second trip to Puerto Vallarta; I now understand what all the fuss is about. I've always had a love for water, but my whale watching experience aboard the Tinuviel, one of the Pegaso Charters sailboats, is something I will never forget.
