Cafe de Olla
"...Best that PV has to offer!"

One of Puerto Vallarta's favorite restaurants, Cafe de Olla is a known for consistently good and authentic Mexican food; fast, courteous, bilingual and friendly service; and reasonable, down-to-earth prices. Serving everything from enchiladas, carne asada, chiles rellenos, pork ribs, and Mexican platters to seafood, Cafe de Olla offers something for everyone. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is inviting; trees extend from the dining-room floor through the roof, local artwork adorns the walls, and salsa music often plays in the background.

Cafe de Olla is hugely popular with locals and tourists alike. The restaurant doesn’t take reservations, so you may have to wait outside for a while before getting a table. But watching the chef man the enormous grill right in the front of the restaurant, smelling the delightful aroma of grilled meats, and watching how every dish is made, is part of the overall experience. Serving for breakfast, lunch and dinner from 9 am to 11 pm. Closed Tues. No credit cards.

Cafe de Olla is a great place to eat. I will recommend this restaurant to any body, I am mexican, and I know the taste of mexican food.

Our visits in November ALWAYS include dinner at Cafe de Olla and our wonderful host Fremin. Looking forward to 2010.

It's like Chuckie Cheese for adults. Wasn't worth the wait, very loud, bad service, and mediocre food.

Going there for eight years and and can't wait till Feb 1. We make a point of taking our friends when they come to visit - good old Cafe de Olla.

When my boyfriend and I are planning a trip back home (PV) we are most excited for our first meal there..which will always be Cafe De Olla. It's worth the wait, and very good prices. Love their seafood platter for two. We eat there multiple times when we are in PV each time. Worth not eating all day just to hungry enough to be hungry enough to finish!
The "papas" - grilled stiffed potatoes are definitely our favorite!
We visited PV last year in August and stoped for lunch at Cafe de Olla..what a experience! The drinks were fish bowl size, the salsa was amazing and my garlick octupus was delicious!Price is resonable..$60us for 4 people(2 adults and 2 kids)- and me and my husband had few shots of tequila and two margaritas each also. We're going back in less than a month and can't wait to go back to Cafe de Olla!

Had a great meal on April 12/07. Recommend the surf and turf for 2. More food than we could eat and reasonable prices. Had a great time!

We have been eating at Cafe de Olla for close to ten years now and have recommended it to many friends over the years who have loved it also!
Debbie Reis
We loved Cafe de Olla. Great food and such fun that we ate there twice. Can't wait to go back. Please, someone, tell me the name of the artist whose prints decorate the place and the menu. Round people dancing, eating...

One of my favorites. We live in La Cruz most of the year and eat here often. Even though the drive to downtown is painfull, it is worth it, the food is great.
Jerry Byrnes
Great food! We will return every time we come to PV.

We visit Cafe de Olla everytime we visit PV. The food is excellant, and the service is top notch. They have a wonderful Seafood Platter for 2 which is just out of this world. Their prices are very reasonable. On our last visit to PV in August, we ate there at least 3x that week. Our favorite waiter if Raul. He was our waiter a few years back when he worked at Paradise Village. After he left, we searched and found him at Cafe de Olla, and have been going there every year since. Make sure you give this restaurant a try on your visit, and ask for Raul. You won't be sorry. We are going back to PV for New Years Eve and will make sure we save a few nights for Cafe de Olla for sure.

I love their grilled, stuffed 'papas' - they're sort of like baked potatoes, very yummy, especially with the house barbacue sauce.
I have loved this family spot for years. Be prepared to stand in line but what a great way to meet fellow foodies! Please check out their enchiladas and the BBQ combo.
Best that PV has to offer! Any restaurant that there is a line to get in - means that everything about the place is excellent - and it truly is! Food - out of sight - price - reasonable - service - impeccable - atmosphere - fun and lively!
Nice and unpretentious. Had a great meal at Cafe De Olla. There is usually a line to get in, but we were lucky and got a sidewalk table without waiting. Watched the people go by and had some wonderful fresh seafood. I agree with the other review: try the seafood sampler. Will come again when I visit PV next year.
GREAT! Try the seafood combination.

Cafe de Olla - great Mexican food, fantastic staff and atmosphere.
Cafe de Olla has delicious traditional Mexican food. Go for lunch to avoid the lines, sit outside and enjoy watching the people walk by. Inexpensive, hearty portions.
