A new art gallery opened its doors in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta on October 1st. Aptly named Sol y Luna – Arte Sin Fronteras, this unique art gallery not only explores a range of artistic expressions from international artists, but also also celebrates the connection between visual arts and language, offering writing workshops with Wendy Brown.

Located in Plaza Romy, at Lazaro Cardenas 230 between Ignacio L. Vallarta & Pino Suarez, the gallery presented its first art exhibition during the second annual Sensual and Erotic Art Walk, which took place in Puerto Vallarta from October 1st-8th.

The gallery's erotic art exhibition was such a success that they not only had to take over three additional spaces in Plaza Romy to display all of the works created by the arists that they represent, but they also decided to continue featuring the exhibit through October 24th.

Starting on October 20th, Galeria Sol y Luna will be featuring their "Fall Art Show," presenting new paintings by the talented Guadalajaran artist Roberto López Ramírez and the works of reknowned Cuban Sculpture Artist Rafael Miranda San Juan among other local and international artists.

The Fall Art Show will be on display through November 2nd, with the Opening Cocktail Reception scheduled for Friday October 20th from 6 to 10 pm, and a portion of the show devoted to the traditional Mexican Dia de los Muertos celebration.

Dia de los Muertos will also be celebrated at Galeria Sol y Luna through a free Poetry Performance by Wendy Brown and Friends on Wednesday Oct. 25th & Friday Oct. 27th from 6 to 8 pm. Presenting a dramatic performance of poetry celebrating life, death, and memory, this presentation uses costume, ritual and an Altar to evoke the significance of this time, when there is a thinning of the veil between the worlds. There will also be “Calaveras” and other Spanish works presented bilingually.
