To make your reservations or to learn more about Local Celebrity Night at Banana Cantina, call 222-2114 or send an email to PVbananacantina@aol.com. For more information about the restaurant, visit BananaCantina.com.
For Banana Cantina owners Mike and Debbi Egan, life has always involved helping children. Having been fortunate enough to do well, and believing that part of that success was due to always giving something back to the community, last month they decided to host Local Celebrity Night - a fabulous evening of food and fun to raise money for local charities.

The idea behind Local Celebrity Night was to increase business for themselves and other local businesses, so last month they started hosting local celebrities every Wednesday night and giving 10% of the restaurant's sales to a local school or charity.

The first two events, featuring guest hosts Len from "Blu by Len" salon on November 8th and Wine goddess Nina on November 15th, were wildly successful. Since then, the spirit of giving has grown, with each of the guest hosts adding a little something extra to help raise even more money.

On November 22nd, Tim Longpre of Puerto Vallarta Rentals Premier Vacations (PVRPV.com) shared stories of rentals in PV and beyond with diners, while selling his (usually free) T-shirts and raising $2678 pesos for the Alfredo V. Bonfil School.

On November 29th, the restaurant rocked and rolled as Mama Dolores kept the wait/bar/kitchen staff and the customers in line - and in stitches. Between Mama's generous and outrageous personality, and the sales of her (usually free) postcards another $2140 pesos was added to the pot - bringing the grand total of funds raised for the Alfredo V. Bonfil School to $4818 pesos!

On December 6th, Zac Campbell of EM Vallarta, donated all the proceeds from the sale the special EM Vallarta Appetizer created by EM Chef Laurena Cordero Martini to the New Life Vallarta Street Boys Home. http://www.newlifemexico.com

And though the special appetizer was created by EM Chef Laurena Cordero Martini, it was the owner of Eventful Moments Vallarta, Zac Campbell, who was the celebrity guest host at the December 6th FUNdraiser, raising $1600 pesos for New Life Mexico.

With years of experience coordinating weddings and special events for groups of all sizes upon moving to Puerto Vallarta, Zac drew upon his creative flair, enthusiasm and good taste to create Eventful Moments Vallarta - the most well-rounded, full service event planning and gourmet catering company in the Banderas Bay area. www.em-vallarta.com.

This week, Banana Cantina will be hosting Nina of La Bodega Nina, who will be pairing Argentine wines with our traditional Chilean dish. We will be raising funds for Pasitos de Luz, a substitute home for low income children with any type of handicap. www.pasitosdeluz.org

Be sure to stop by Banana Cantina on Wednesday, December 13th between 7 and 11 pm to help support this worthy cause. To make your reservations or to learn more about Local Celebrity Night at Banana Cantina, call 222-2114 or send an email to PVbananacantina@aol.com.

Located on the corner of Pulpito and Amapas, in the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, Banana Cantina boasts a totally unique menu featuring creative Contemporary Mexican Cuisine and International dishes and an eclectic ambiance created by a colorful, yet comfortable, decor.
