HELP! Is On It's Way

Bonnie Sumlin, the General Director of the Manzanillo Foreign Community Association A.C., will be at the Santa Barbara Theater in Puerto Vallarta on January 25th at 11 am and 4 pm to provide HELP! to expats who want to obtain Mexican Citizenship.
Puerto Vallarta - Are you tired of paying the yearly fees for renewing your FM2 or FM3? If you are a foreigner who has lived in Mexico for five or more years, you can become a Mexican citizen.

Sound interesting? Stop by the Santa Barbara Theater on Thursday, January 25th as Bonnie Sumlin, the General Director of HELP!, a non-profit Mexican Civil Association that assists foreigners living in Mexico, presents two free seminars explaining everything you need to know about becoming a Mexican citizen.

At 11 am and 4 pm, Bonnie, who has been helping foreign residents obtain Mexican citizenship for more than 9 years, will answer questions such as: "Do I have to give up my existing citizenship (USA or Canada)?" or "Will it affect my Social Security?"

She'll also explain how becoming a Mexican citizen can help you overcome some of the limitations imposed on foreigners who live, work or own property in Mexico.

For example, as a Mexican citizen you don't have to make the annual trip to the local immigration office to renew your FM-3. Another benefit is that while resident visitors have to use a bank trust for property purchases, as a Mexican citizen, you can own property in your own name - without having to pay yearly Fideicomiso fees.

There are other advantages, too. Mexican Citizens are issued a Mexican voter registration card. And while you may not be politically minded, these ID cards are very helpful when cashing checks or dealing with governmental agencies.

Over the years, Bonnie and local members of the HELP! Association have assisted over 100 Canadians and Americans living in Puerto Vallarta and other areas of Jalisco obtain Mexican Citizenship - more than any other state in Mexico!

But becoming a Mexican Citizen is only one of the services that Bonnie and the HELP! organization provide. They can also help foreign residents get FM3 or FM2s, show you how to benefit from the Mexican Social Security Plan, and help you in understanding and translating important legal documents, such as police reports and Fideicomisos.

Don't miss this important, informative - and free! - seminars on January 25th at 11 am or 4 pm. Santa Barbara will be supplying complimentary botanas and liquid refreshments will be available for purchase.

These meetings are always popular and seating is limited, so if you are planning to attend either of these get-togethers, please contact Gary and Ken Touchet at 221-5790, or send an email to VallartaHelp@yahoo.com.
